Lakme Fashion Week diaries #4: Shyamal & Bhumika and Bisou Bisou

The final day at Lakme Fashion Week was jam-packed with  a number of shows, collections and of course, celebrity showstoppers. After powering through most of the day with a great lunch, there were two shows that I thought stood out from the rest.

Shyamal & Bhumika

Decadent would be the perfect word to describe the entire collection which consisted of Indian wear such an anarkali suits, lehengas, sarees as well as sherwanis for the men.

They used a number of materials like brocade, silk, chiffon and velvet upon which a variety of embellishment and gold thread work was designed. The colours used were almost all of them and the colour combinations seemed odd to me since I found a number of them did not blend well together. Ethnic accessories like heavy dangler earrings, turbans, mojris and mang tikkas completed the look. Dia Mirza was the showstopper for the collection and looked like the perfect bride in red, gold and flowing curls as she took to the ramp with Shyamal and Bhumika.

Bisou Bisou, a contemporary Parisian brand by Michele Bohbot was launched by Reliance Trends and showcased its first collection in India at Lakme Fashion Week's final day.

The collection was very trendy and narrowed on all of the hottest trends of the moment like sequins, peplum, sheers and digital prints. Owing to the fact that the collection was so relatable, I'm sure most of us would love to pick up a piece or two from the collections. There were occasional bursts of colour but the latter half of the collection optimised on the achromatic/black and white trend with all the garments in these shades. That being said, although I found the collection so wearable for an average girl like me; showcasing trends that are currently in fashion seems dated and doesn't provide the punch a collection needs.
Priyanka Chopra was the showstopper for the collection and took a final walk with Michele Bohbot but not before she blew a kiss to the audience. Bisou Bisou has around 33 in-store shops at Reliance Trends outlets so if you like what you see, check them out.
