The best of Oscar night.

If it wasn't obvious enough already, everybody loves Oscar night. From the swanky location, to the hilarious host to the brilliantly talented movie makers and their works of art, there is no other awards show quite like it. Last night, after a tiring day of college and work, I curled up to watch The Oscars 2013 as did most of the world. Life of Pi won so may awards, Jennifer Lawrence proved she's just another girl with that trip of hers, Adele's voice was amazing as ever, Kristin Chenoweth made an adorable pre-show presenter, Anne Hathway's proved she isn't all that perfect with that dress and the Les Miserables cast did a heart-wrenching performance of a song from the musical.
Now in the fashion department, the usual standouts disappeared from the scene and many of the one's who made their mark last night were fresh, new faces with gorgeous dresses with fabulous accessories while a few others showed timeless beauty that has remained intact through the years.

Take a look.

Inspiration: Lauren Conrad

There's just something about Lauren. Whether it's the sun kissed skin, the bright eyes or the impeccable style, there is something magnetic about her.

Source

In 2004, she shot to fame as a part of the TV show, Laguna Beach. Two years later, her own spin-off series, The Hills was born which soon led her to an internship with Teen Vogue. Her fashion career soon took off in 2008 when she launched her first fashion line The Lauren Conrad Collection which was a hit. Her second, LC Lauren soon followed.

Apart from being just a television star and fashion designer, she has the author tag under her hat as well with her first book L.A. Candy being launched in 2009 which made it to the New York Times bestseller list.

It was in April 2011, a couple of friends and Lauren launched The Beauty Department, a site that covers everything under the sun to do with beauty.

When it comes to her style, Lauren is a lady of true classics, one whose style most girls can relate to. Her look is that of comfort and chic - leggings paired with pretty jumpers and shirts and basics like black blazers, neutral pumps and a winged eyeliner.

Versatile as ever, she keeps her style constantly changing by pairing trendy pieces with subtle, basic ones like classic blue jeans and large totes.

And of course, since she is a part of the brilliant Beauty Department team, she's constantly staying up to date with fashion and beauty trends, where she stills looks gorgeous as ever.

Life of the party

She is the life of the party. She smiles, she dolls up, she pouts. She receives boxes of chocolates, gets surprise packages at the door and has the occasional secret admirer. She loves everything flouncy, feminine and decked with bows. And the party doesn't have to be at a raging club or on a beach at sunset. It's in the midst of quiet afternoon reading, when she's preening in the mirror with her favorite lipstick on or on an evening dancing by herself.
The party follows her wherever she goes because well, she is the party.

Review: Park Avenue - Beer Shampoo

I had once tried the famed flat beer hair rinse and while I did feel a certain softness in my hair, it did nothing more for me. When I became aware of this new product and it was finally available on stands, I decided to give beer a second chance. So when I received it as part of a generous Christmas gift, you can imagine my excitement. Since I do not stick to any single shampoo for my daily usage, the beer shampoo had become part of my shower line-up, which I began to use every week or so. After more than a month of usage, here are the results.

Disclaimer:The review below is not carried out in association with any brand/company. The thoughts and opinions expressed below are completely my own.

Packaging:

The orange-tinted shampoo of 200ml comes in a transparent plastic bottle which is in the shape of a beer bottle. The fragrance of the shampoo is slightly sour. Don't miss the soda bottle inspired cap *plus points for creativity!* which fixes on tightly to the bottle.

Price:

Rs. 160/-

Results:

*Pros:

- It is an adorably packaged bottle and would make for great gifting.
- My scalp tends to be on the greasy side so the shampoo does do a great job getting rid of the excess oils.
- It added a softness and a slight gloss to my hair.
- The plastic packaging and the small size makes it easy to carry for travelling purposes.

*Cons:

- The shampoo has a sour smell, much like that of beer which can tend to be unpleasant. However, the sour smell disappears after washing and you will not get any trace of it.
- For people with a dryer scalp, it might prove to be excessively drying, especially on the ends of your hair.

Rating:

7/10

My advice:

It would make the perfect gift for a male because of the flavour and innovativeness of the packaging. I will happily continue to use mine till it ends but I don't think I would repurchase it as  apart from the novelty factor of the shampoo, it didn't make any great difference to my hair.

Happy weekend dolls.

Stupid Cupid

They say that Cupid needs to work out the kinks of his system because when it comes to love, something always goes wrong; either its the worst timing in the world, a completely wrong person who gets struck or sometimes, for the absolutely wrong reasons. However, I do believe that, there will be this one glorious time when your reasons are right, the timing is spot on and the person is none other than Mr.Charming himself. *First name: Prince* Because just once in a lifetime, there will be an overwhelming, maddening, passionate love that will happen to you. An all consuming, fiery, extraordinary love. If you already have it, you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't, when it does happen, remember to cherish every second of it. Well, I do.

Crotchet top - Vintage [previously seen here], Burgundy pants - Vintage Wrangler [previously seen here], Black loafers - Local store (Bandra) [previously seen here], Black and gold leather tote - Thrift (Dharavi), Silver bangles - Mom's, Solitaire - Gifted, Diamonte ring - Thrift (Colaba), On my eyes - Maybelline Drama Gel Liner, On my Lips - Rimmel 'Cutting Edge' [Review here], On my nails - OPI 'Black Cherry Chutney'

So as Valentine's is just around the corner, I knew I had to blend together creamy crochet and intense burgundy, which made a huge splash this winter. Paired with an arm of intricate silver bangles and a sparkler on my finger - I'm all set!
Here's to the day of love - make sure you celebrate it brilliantly and show yourself some lovin' with a red velvet cupcake.
