Style File + Clean & Clear | The real me

If mornings could be summed up in a single word, 'manic' would be ideal to describe it. While some days *however rarely they may occur* are planned and play out to the tee; others are not quite the same. From taking bites of my breakfast in between buttoning my shirt, I'm on my toes from the very moment I wake up. Recently, in the midst of fussing over a minuscule conundrum, like what belt matched what shoes or if my folder would fit inside my handbag, I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. No doubt my outfit was on-point but my face told another story. When I saw tired eyes and a fatigued face looking back at me, that's when I knew I had to take things in my own hands for a more confident, brighter start to the day.

Cue the Morning Energy face wash range by Clean & Clear which consists of 3 variants i.e. Purifying Apple, Brightening Berry and Energizing Lemon. Fruits are known to be skin saviors so it is an added bonus having the natural fruit extracts directly in contact with the skin. The translucent liquid with minute spheres comes in a 100 ml bottle priced at an affordable INR 110. The highlight of the range is its unique Bursting Beads formulation that shatters on contact to help enhance the way the face wash cleanses the skin.

I've spoken about my skin story and the constant need to tip-toe around it because of its sensitivity. So when it came down to reviewing the Morning Energy range, my previous apprehension was dispelled swiftly as it did not cause any break-outs on my sensitive skin and made my oily texture feel a lot less greasy.

The Bursting Beads gently burst on application, adding to the deeper cleanse and fruity fragrance of the face wash.  The moments I splashed it on my face, I found that there was a certain freshness instilled in my skin that served as the perfect alarm clock for it, invigorating my skin with new life. Frequent usage of the face wash definitely made a difference and woke my skin to a brighter start.

Looking in hindsight at my teenage years, one of the pearls of wisdom they've taught me is that less really is more. The age can surface the worst in us, from awful dark circles to raging pimples to dreaded dark spots, which we make out to be much greater than what they truly are.
While cosmetics are great in moderation, never make the mistake of losing your true being under layers of cosmetics and clothing because in reality, all you are ever known for is the real you. Strip down beneath all those the layers and what lies there is you, in all your glory. Find that being and let it shine. So the next time you wake up in the morning, make sure you  start it off with confidence and energy, to show your true self.

Style File + Wrogn | Rewriting the wrong

While I wouldn't label myself as a rebel, I like having the liberty of making my own choices - be it in my career, my personal style or my relationships. When it comes to fashion , I've often talked about how unspoken rules are always prevalent and while they are set for a reason, it's our job to bend them to our will. Now in life, that's a little trickier to work with.

When I was fresh out of college and making those crucial, life-changing decisions, my budding blog and growing interest in the digital space affirmed the fact that my career would be far from a traditional one. After all, having so many passions and interests have made me quite the multidimensional person which I wanted for my life as well. That's when I decided, instead of taking the beaten path, why not make one of my own?
Today, as I lean into the life of innumerable positions and the responsibilities that come with it; I'm glad that I chose to break barriers and stereotypes to carve a niche for myself while making my own trail with its own set of rules.

And that's just what Wrogn speaks about. With its purposeful typo and the charming Virat Kohli as its ambassador, the men's apparel brand, with its trendy styles and relaxed vibe is a young-ling in the industry that is growing at a rapid pace. Encouraging us to think abundantly, decide freely and live wildly, the brand not only has a line of clothing that's fit to deck you to the nines but, they also have an exciting ongoing contest!

The moment you are led to the contest page, it is almost as if you are transported to a parallel dimension. A jumbled maze, a hazy screen and a vague mannequin brought a chill down my spine. While the prospect of the contests starts with a seemingly simple set of 10 questions, once you get deeper into it, you will realize that appearances truly are deceiving. The visual as well as the sound effects add an air of apprehension, until a suave Virat arrives on the screen, looks you straight in the eye and bowls question after question at you, which you might have to think a little more twisted for.

But before I reveal a little too much about the contest, I think you should try it for yourself. Enter the Wrogn Auditions & once you go through all of the stages - you might just be the lucky winner of the jackpot! And what is that jackpot, you ask? One lucky winner will have the chance to go to Las Vegas along with 3 of his/her friends for an experience that comes just once in a lifetime!

Personal Style | Leap of Faith

Over the past couple of weeks, the phrase 'if you don't jump in the water, you will never learn how to swim' has been tossed around, rather freely. More than diving into the pond, the phrase is about trusting your abilities enough to take a shot in the dark and still float to the surface. However, coming from someone who has dove into the water, both metaphorically and literally; it's a rather overrated act.
The head-first dive into the literal water, left me gasping for breathe and spluttering through the rest of my swimming class. Now the metaphorical jump was more of a success. While it gave me the perfect opportunity to redeem myself, it made me realize how there are no certainties. When it comes to taking that leap of faith, there is no assured testament that you will sink or swim; just the chance that anything is possible.

From time to time, I find my personal style leaning towards being borrowed from the boys and I'm unapologetic about it, mainly because of how it ups the cool quotient. Of course, throwing on sneakers and ripped jeans can get you through many bustling day but adding in my eternal favorite red lip and a handful of pretty midi rings can put the 'chic' in sporty-chic, any day of the week!

Style File + Reliance Trends | Trend forecast for A/W '15 - 16 with Tarun Tahiliani

You've heard about the excitement that grows during fashion week  as well as the world of trends it dictates for the season ahead; which is likewise for this year as well. Season after season, we exclusively cover the shows and dissect each designer to bring you fashion and trends that are the right fit. So this season, Reliance Trends was presenting the Tarun Tahiliani show which I had a chance to collaborate on, like our previous association in the summer, it was the stuff that only fashion week thrills could bring.

Complete with a sultry eyed Bollywood showstopper and the glitz that winter wear brings, I studied the show as best I could, while live-tweeting it, of course. Today, I've broken down Tarun Tahiliani's collection which was presented by Reliance Trends to tell you about the trends I've spotted from the show, which we can expect to see more off in the chilly months ahead.

Drape & Fall

The silhouette that was dominant over most of the collection was the slinky draped pleats that fell like liquid. In a variety of shades over a number of fabrics, the fluid drape of the clothing added more balance to the other structured proportions, cutting a sleek figure.

Black & Gold

With the reverence that the colour black has, it's a classic move to make. Playing around with the textures like silky satin and plush velvet in the colour adds more dimension to the look. And once you pair the colour with the nobility of gold, it's a match made in heaven. The combination made an appearance in smaller embroidered sections as well as in bold fabric over the bodice; most dominantly over the showstopper Chitrangada as well.

Warmth

Just like a desirable mug of hot chocolate on a cold winter day, a warm touch to a cold outfit can do wonders. While achromatic shades of black and white ruled the collection; the much needed warmth came in the form of brilliant vermilion, vibrant tangerine and striking red - the very core colours of fire.

Prints

Adding life to the myriad of textures and silhouettes was the striking use of prints. The Indian inspired prints which Tarun has come to be known for were the main attraction and besides them, a play with stripes was refreshing to see. Chevron stripes, geometrical blocks and diagonal lines added variety to the print play and brought so much colour to the table.

The striking collection was complimented magically with loafers, ethnic accessories and ankle bands and the Indian fusion pieces were a treat for the eyes, especially the innovation 'saree-jumpsuit'. Chitrangada cut the figure of a glorious, smokey eyed goddess and brought just the right dramatic touch to close such a delightful collection.
