Personal Style | Keep it moving

Time and again, I revert to telling you a merry story which has, most often, taken place on a warm, summer day. That's because the summer is made for memories and this story is no different. It all started during a wonderful summer vacation which was brimming with possibility. I had envisioned myself spending my afternoons playing Uno, eating ice lollies and strategically planning my moves in a Hide 'n Seek game. However, my dreams were dashed when I was set up to learn how to cycle.

Now, as an individual who is not highly inclined to athletics, my first reaction was to refuse it completely. How was I supposed to spend my summer doing nothing when I was to do something, especially one involving muscle exertion? But no meant no, was the answer I got; which led me to strap on my sneakers and begin a daily ritual of attempting to gain balance, swerve maniacally and get saved from a crash by my dad.

So while the rest of my gang continued with Uno, I continued to attempt to cycle. Soon enough, my legs were stronger, my balance was better and I could turn without skidding myself to a halt. One fine evening, which I remember as clear as day, I could feel the familiar weight of my dad holding the cycle frame firmly, until I didn't. My vacation until that point made sense in that very moment. That momentum which I had create all through the summer had finally thrust me forward into a moment of sheer weightlessness where I was finally able to progress, no training wheels necessary.

And while I hope this long-drawn snippet of me learning a new skill was mildly entertaining, I've found it very relevant to life lately. Getting the hang of the cycle is without a doubt, a daunting skill but once you find the right amount of momentum, you will find that moving forward is easy and all you need to do is go for it and pedal.

While there isn't even a glimpse of autumn in sight, I've decided to start moving towards it with the light layering of a kimono while still being practical with high hems. Once I started mixing and matching the pieces, I found the bohemian accessories and metallic accents really bring the achromatic ensemble together. So while I reminisce about the season to come, layer by layer, I'm getting there.

Style File + Wella at Jean Claude Biguine | Change begins with hair

A haircut has always meant so much more to me than chopping off my locks; in fact, I'd term it as a symbol of change. It was a right of passage at the beginning of the every school year for me to get my blunt hairstyle trimmed to my school standard of meticulousness. The start of my university years was accompanied with longer, more experimental layers. So when 2015 came around, I saw myself adjacent to a new direction and obviously, I couldn't begin it without a change of my 'do! That's when I decided to go back to my bob; the journey of which I've covered previously.
My particularity about my hair goes way back when and it all started from my mom. I'm a women after her own heart and my interest in this field all began with lessons that I've learned from watching her intently at the dresser. So recently, when the Jean Claude Biguine team kindly introduced their association with Wella Professionals, the hair enthusiasts in us were all aboard for a delightful pampering session.

Wella Professionals introduces a range of their hair treatments and hair colours under the mantle of Jean Claude Biguine salons, which targets every hair issue and provides them with an apt remedy ranging from restoration to volume. I opted for the System Professionals Intense Alchemy treatment that included an application of the product, a steam for my cuticles to open and a massage to soak in some of that good stuff.
While I sat savoring the quiet time of massage in the silent zone of the salon, mom got busy selecting a hair colour that was subtle and similar to her current tone, guided by her hairstylist Antonia. After being swathed in garments and thoroughly prepared for the process, it went off easily and the finished colour was just the right shade of natural. On the other end of the salon, my treatment came to a close and I was relaxed and felt a noticeable softness in my hair from the therapy.

After a relaxing lull, we came to the crucial part - the haircut. While I am particular about how my hair looks, I'm not greatly attached to it which makes experimenting an enjoyable task. I was in the midst of my bob growing out so it was the perfect time to go shorter. I opted for a graduated bob, which, under the expertise of my hairstylist Kunal, was easy as pie. It is important to trust your hair with someone who knows their stuff which is exactly why I was so confident about the cut, which Kunal nailed completely.
Mom stayed true to her curls with Antonia cutting off length marginally and keeping her texture groomed, recommending products and giving tips on achieving that ideal finished look.

While I have experienced the Jean Claude Biguine treatment previously as well, this was another of those pleasant ones. The salon professionals are not only highly skilled for their designated purpose but are helpful through every step of the way; something which is a bonus, especially when you're changing your look. As my experience took me deeper into the sanctum this time, I was delighted at how conducive the ambiance of the salon is for a peaceful pamper session.
I'm over the moon with my fresh look and love how they stayed true to mom's signature curls and colour tones without taking away too much from them. With the introduction of Wella Professionals at Jean Claude Biguine, your experience is about to get enlivened so I'd recommend that you drop in there for your next hair makeover, whether its your routine trim or a festive season treatment.

Life | Snapshots at Lakme Fashion Week

The most spectacular month of fashion has made its appearance, created an impression and left us intrigued by it. Even though the fashion weeks from Milan to New York might be a tad out of reach, which leaves us to resort to live streaming them; watching the talent from your very own country is a delight in itself.
After exclusively covering the showcase for years now, I've spoken about my experience at fashion week over and again and this time was no less. The winter festive 2015 showcase of Lakme Fashion Week set the tone for the season to come. From hints of warmth to classic combinations, the trend forecast for A/W 15 - 16 was one to make note of. Of course, it included spectacular runway models, glimpses of the pre-show bustle that ensues in the backstage area and collection after collection of garments, designs and fashion statements, walking right in front of you.
