Lakme Fashion Week diaries #3: Amit Aggarwal and Pria Kataria Puri
The 2nd day of Lakme Fashion Week was the most exhausting one, I found. Sitting through shows all morning with a solitary mochachino at midday to pull me through the rest of the evening is definitely not the high-fashion image one would have in mind but then again, fashion isn't all pretty clothes and shiny baubles.
I've covered the first half of Lakme Fashion Week day 2 previously so by the time second half of the day rolled around, I thought I had seen it all for the day. But no, I hadn't. The collections in the second half came as a pleasant surprise and proved to be the perfect pick-me-up that I needed.
Her collection showcased a number of various all elements all brought together on one stage. She stuck to earthy shades but used the occasional neon. The silhouettes were relaxed and flowing with many a kaftan, maxi skirt and halter dress. The print was reminiscent of the scarf print we saw last year as well as a more abstract one. I found the touch of fur used was unnecessary and didn't add much to the looks. Metallics were included in terms of accessories and footwear. And yes, the sequins came out at their shiniest best. She also debuted her menswear collection which included kaftans, cropped trousers and bold abstract prints. Mahie Gill was the showstopper and took to the ramp in an embellished fitted dress with Pria Kataria Puri for the final walk.

Amit Aggarwal
Amit Aggarwal, whose first time it was showcasing Indian wear, definitely made an impression with his collection. I found it to be a mix of ethnicity and space-age elements. Metallic shades of gold, bronze and silvers took centre stage. The draping on the bottom half of the ensemble *as seen above* was beautiful and added a certain elegance to it all. Beadwork of the bustiers and sheer necklines were consistent through many of the looks. The slicked back hair and silver ponytail-esque headgear used were in theme with the whole futuristic vibe of the show. Besides that, the ruffles and moulding on the waists and hems of the many a skirt added to it.
Pria Kataria Puri
Pria Kataria's show began with a laser show which set the mood for the certainly the most punchy and glitzy show of Lakme Fashion Week.
