For the fashion industry, fashion weeks across the world mark the beginning of a new season. While Milan, Paris, London and New York have their self-named weeks, Mumbai has it's Lakmé Fashion Week. Covering it for Style File is always a joy because there's just something about watching a live showcase that cannot be explained.
Here are a few highlights of some of my favorite collections and pieces from the event.
I loved the oriental inspired flavour from Ashdeen
Kangana shimmers in silver for Dorothy Perkins at Jabong
Neeta Lulla made her trademark shirt dress more glam on Priyanka Chopra

Nikhil Thampi hit some high notes with gorgeous floral embellishments, rich tones and high waists
This season had a slew of fresh new designers which was so refreshing to watch. And with spring on the horizon, the most of the collections were light and refreshing, with breezy fabrics in pastels and bright tones.
Love From India had a refreshing and wearable collection with watercolour prints and pastels
Papa Don't Preach was one of my favorite shows with their bold shades and statement accessories
Ken Fern's was my favorite show for the rich Portuguese influences, cool palette and intricate Azulejo inspired design.
Gauhar Khan made for a perfect showstopper
Here's a quick video I shot at the closing of Ken Fern's collection
This one from Shantanu and Nikhil is straight out of fairyland
Asymmetrical hems and happy shades at Sailex
I had a chance to attend the Lakmé Make-up Master Class by Natasha Nischol with Sarah Jane Dias that focused on the upcoming beauty trends for summer. Since the beauty theme of fashion week this season revolved around illusion and light, Natasha put together 2 looks for day and night that included shimmery eyes and an orange lip.

The lovely folks at the Lakme Absolute salon also did a chic messy side bun on me (more of which you shall see soon!)
