Style File + Liva | Drenched in the downpour

Love it or hate it, the monsoon has its very own charm. The smell of earth after the first showers, the coziness of curling up with hot chocolate and a good book or going for a walk and getting soaked to the bone; things like these make the rains incomparable. However, the most challenging part of the monsoons, with its erratic bouts of rain, sticky heat and constant splashback from puddles is dressing for it. The need of the day is fabrics that rest easy on your body and let your skin breathe while still raising your style quotient. That's why I turn to Liva.

The fabric of Liva is the very answer to the balancing act of practicality and panache that the average woman, like you and me strive to find. The cellulosic fibres that form the basis of Liva are natural and in its purest form, so you can only imagine how fresh your body feels swathed in it. The man-made fabric is weightless and drapes on the body like a second skin.
I had the chance to delve into the racks at 109F recently and it left me spoiled for choice. Amidst an array of pastel shades and porcelain prints, the Liva embedded garments allured me close. A trial room journey later and I was besotted. The breezy silhouettes fit comfortably on my body, the smooth finish feels supple to touch and the porous fabric allows my body to breathe.

I paired my flowing tunic that has a sheer panel along with an airy pair of culottes for an unconfined look as it poured outside. The culottes; a rising trend for good reason, are un-restrictive and allow for easy mobility while the lustrous printed tunic drapes on me like a dream. The monsoon has its own share of havoc and a fussy, confining outfit is the last thing you need.

When the sweltering summer overtook the city, Liva was my companion even on the hottest of days. With the arrival of the monsoons, I cannot wait to embrace the season of drenched downpours and slight showers, all clad in Liva.
