Personal Style | Jungle Fever

I've always been a city girl. In fact, I always seconded the town mouse in Aesop's famous fable - of course the little rodent was better off living in a city with its numerous scraps and abundant nooks! I feel him because I think I'm so habituated to the cityscape, it has become ingrained within me. Yes, the bustling crowds, the blink-and-you-miss-it pace and the blinding lights of Mumbai feel like second nature.

But come the spell of the showers and I start feeling differently. Call it the magic of the monsoon or a joke by the weather Gods, even! Regardless of the reason, all I feel is the need to get away from the city that I've known all my life and go back home. Not for a sabbatical, not even for the whole season, just for a bit. There's something amazing about going back home, back to nature and back to the simple life. The air is fresher and the number of stars dotting the night sky is unimaginable, making me wonder where they hide during the day. Leaves glisten and life is mellow; which makes it feel like here, you can exist and not just survive. So no matter how many times you may leave, aching to plunge yourself into the roar of the city; you know that you'll always be back. Like a wild tiger that can't stay far from the jungle, there's an invisible connection that'll always take you back.

While in the throes of the monsoon, I finalised on a look that gave an urban safari vibe. With its earthy palette, it reminded me of the abundance of nature back home and collided perfectly with the start of autumn. So I decided to go all out while adding a tough girl touch with the rivets and studs. For my bronze eye makeup, I actually followed Kylie Jenner's 15 step Snapchat tutorial, which complemented the muted look to the tee. And finally, the DIY pins and gold toned accessories knocked it right out of the ballpark!
